Movie Synopsis

Bruno, the eight-year-old son of the commandant at a concentration camp, cannot understand why he can’t be friends with a Jewish boy on the other side of the camp fence.

Movie Review Summary

I don’t want to give away how this ends, but sadly, it’s not an ending worth waiting for. The reason for that is the story loses the idea of why this should be a film. There’s no completion of characters, only questions left, and what is a glimmer of hope amongst a sea of darkness is completely missed. In fact, the story is just a tragedy. It’s nicely acted, the characters are believable but it really suffers when it doesn’t understand where it is going to. Ultimately it’s a dark, dark place, with no hope offered to anyone. You have high hopes that something good will come of it all and sadly that just doesn’t come true.
