American Pie: Reunion

Synopsis

It’s been over a decade since the first American Pie and there’s a high school reunion for in store for Jim, Michelle, Oz, Kevin,Finch, Stifler, Vicky, Heather.

Summary

American Pie established a new niche in comedy with the antics of Jim and the boys. The timing of that movie was perfect, with webcams becoming more popular and Jim’s videoing of himself and Nadia. So perfect in fact that it’s still referred to even in this film. Which lends this film something special. On it’s own, it’s not a 4 out of 5 film – indeed, if you haven’t seen the other American Pies don’t start here, it’ll be lost on you. The sentimental value of being back amongst Jim, Jim’s dad, Stifler, Stifler’s mum and the rest of the gang is what makes this touching. We’ve grown up together, so their reunion is also kind of our reunion. There’s enough comedy value in this one to keep it funny and give you laugh out moments, although I suspect this will have to be last piece of the pie to be served otherwise we’ll find it’s gone cold.
