Movie Review Summary
I was expecting this film to be related or a continuation to the first two, when in fact it was something entirely different. I was also expecting Skyfall to relate to the sky falling in on MI6 / M / 007 but actually that doesn’t come across at all. Sure, MI6 comes under attack but you don’t get the feeling the baddie is being particularly bad when he releases the name of just five undercover MI6 agents each week on YouTube. Then there is the finale to the film. Why oh why is the solution to the crisis to retreat to Bond’s family home in Scotland where he hasn’t been since he was a kid? Yes, there’s the logic in getting off the grid that Silva is successfully controlling, but going to Skyfall, the family home, doesn’t seem plausible other than to provide a good setting for a battle. You’ll enjoy this latest 007 outing if you’re a Bond fan, it may not be the best that the critics are saying it is, but it’s enjoyable if you’re aware of what’s about to come and how it fits with the franchise.
