Movie Review Summary
There’s two real worries that most people have had about this film. Firstly, Daniel Radcliffe IS Harry Potter, how can he do a horror film like this that doesn’t feel like it’s just Harry Potter running round fighting ghosts. Secondly, will this be anywhere near as good, or the stage show based on. Well, I’m happy to report that this film has probably acknowledged that worries and triumphantly worked through them, resulting in an excellent horror film. Daniel works the role very well, you do forget that he was Harry Potter as you get used to his version of Arthur Kipps. The one downside being the fact that he did do this just a few too many years to early, he is too young for his character to be who he is meant to be. The film is also a quality adaptation of the original story. Now, there are changes to it, so if you’re a purist you’ll have a problem, but if you have an open-mind you’ll see the reworking of it has come out beautifully for the big screen. A good film, I wish there were more horror films of this standard these days.
