Movie Synopsis

When regular guy Douglas Quaid decides to go visit Rekall to experience a memory of a lifetime he is plunged into a dangerous chase with the government believing him to be a deadly spy.

Movie Review Summary

This is a better attempt at updating the original film than has been suggested. Personally it would have benefitted from moving a little more away from the action and experiencing the difference between the UFB and the Colony, as it doesn’t feel like there is that much that Quaid is battling for in this film in truth, apart from the understanding of who he is. The ending is a little bemusing – why would the main baddie travel with foot soldiers to attack the Colony? Because the film has veered towards the action element to much it has lost some of the charm of the original. Also, it cannot match up for concept – going to Mars was always going to be more interesting versus travelling through a chute across the world. If you’ve seen the original this may be a nice reminder of some of the key parts of the story; if this is your first viewing of the film, then this definitely has something to offer you.
