Movie Review Summary
This isn’t one of those high stakes, must escape the baddies at all costs, rescue the girl and secure the treasure kind of kid’s films. It’s much more subtle than that. The setting of a wintry Paris is a nice touch and gives the film a different feel to it, as if it’s a bit more exotic (although there are some very quintessential British actors in the roles and many references to Britain). It’s a film where you do wonder what will happen next and do hope that Hugo will find the solutions he’s looking for, so it will keep you captivated much toward the end. This had a lot of positive reviews by the critics and it’s easy to see why. It’s one you’ll watch and take it or leave it, but most likely a good investment of some spare time.
